Salon Chair to Spotlight: A Day of Investing in Me

Sometimes, the best investment you can make is in yourself. I decided to take a day off—not to catch up on chores or errands—but to truly pour back into me. I started the morning at the salon, allowing myself to slow down and feel refreshed. Later, I attended the Rural Business Growth Accelerator workshop to fuel my entrepreneurial goals, and ended the day on the Ville-Land Podcast, sharing the story behind my journal. From self-care to business growth, it was a reminder that personal and professional success are deeply connected.

The Power of the Pause

When life gets busy, it’s easy to believe that constant motion equals progress. But the truth is, pausing is powerful. Sitting in that salon chair reminded me that rest isn’t wasted time—it’s preparation. It’s in those quiet, unhurried moments that creativity flows and clarity returns. Taking care of myself physically helps me show up stronger mentally and emotionally for my students, readers, and clients.

Learning and Growing

After a morning of relaxation, I shifted into business mode at the Rural Business Growth Accelerator workshop. Surrounded by other entrepreneurs and visionaries, I was reminded that growth doesn’t happen by accident—it’s intentional. Every speaker, resource, and conversation pushed me to think bigger about my journaling brand and the impact I want it to have. Sometimes the best way to honor your goals is to step into spaces that challenge you to evolve.

Sharing My Story

The day wrapped up with an inspiring interview on the Ville-Land Podcast, where I got to share my journey as a journal creator and workshop facilitator. Talking about why I started my business—helping others slow down, reflect, and grow through journaling—reminded me of my “why.” It also reaffirmed that every time I invest in myself, I have more to give back to my community.

A Lesson in Balance

That one day reminded me that balance isn’t about doing it all—it’s about doing what matters. Self-care, learning, and sharing my passion all fed different parts of me. When I give myself permission to refill my own cup, I’m better equipped to pour into others.

So, if you’ve been waiting for “the right time” to take a break or invest in yourself, this is your sign. Book that appointment. Sign up for the class. Say yes to the opportunity. You are worth the investment.

Your Turn to Invest in You

Before you jump back into your to-do list, take a moment to think about you. When was the last time you did something that refilled your spirit instead of draining it? Growth doesn’t always happen in motion—sometimes it happens in stillness, in self-care, in saying yes to your own needs.

Grab your journal and write about one way you can invest in yourself this week.

It doesn’t have to be big—it just has to be intentional. Maybe it’s scheduling rest, taking a class, or doing something that brings you joy.

If you need a little inspiration, my journal And Suddenly Life Got Busy! is designed to help you pause, reflect, and refocus—because the best version of you starts with time spent on you.

You are your greatest investment. Start today.
