Life is busy. Seems that it's always speeding up. Sometimes it's important to slow down for a moment and savor special moments. Last weekend, I did just that I attended Dîner en Blanc in Charlotte. This is the social event of the year to attend in Charlotte, North Carolina.

A little background about the event. This event, which has garnered significant attention and participation over the years, was first established in 1988 Paris. Francois Pasquier invited friends to an all white attire picnic in the Bois de Vincennes Park. To easily spot each other, guests wore white, which leads to the event's name. The tradition grew with the location kept secret until the last minute. The event expanded internationally and here we are with this annual event in Charlotte.

My perspective - I thoroughly enjoy attending the event. Guests are advised to dress in all white. You have the option to bring your own meal or prepay for a meal that will be prepared and available for pickup at the venue. I appreciate the excitement and surprise of not knowing the location until the last moment. Besides food, you also bring your own table and chairs, although you can choose to prepay for these to be set up for you. At the end of the evening, you ensure no trace is left by packing up and cleaning your area.

This year's meeting was held at the American Legion Memorial Stadium in Charlotte, NC. The main attraction was a live band that played R&B classics, getting the crowd up and dancing. After the band, a DJ took over for the rest of the evening. Besides the music, there were numerous photo opportunities, acrobats, a live flower lady, celebrities, and more. With over 3,700 attendees this year, I was glad to take a moment to relax and enjoy life with friends.
Despite my hectic schedule, I remind myself of the importance of taking a break, slowing down, and savoring life. I'm already planning to attend the event again next year and deciding on my outfit. Even a week later, my excitement for Diner en Blanc remains strong. I hope to see some of my readers there next year.
